Wisconsin is the great state that it is because of the small farmers that help support it. Agriculture is the largest economic driver in Wisconsin, bringing in $116.3 billion annually (DATCP). With the recent rise of tariffs on the federal level, farmers and agriculture have been suffering from increased costs in exporting and importing. According to Dr. Thomas Kemp, Wisconsin could see losses of more than $100 million annually (The Nation). What is Wisconsin doing to help combat these rising costs and the financial strain that it puts on our farmers? While tariffs continue to hit Wisconsin farmers hard, there’s little evidence that Speaker Vos has taken meaningful steps to protect their livelihoods or expand markets effectively. Despite repeated assurances, Wisconsin’s farmers are still facing declining exports and rising costs, which proves that current leadership isn’t doing enough. I won’t wait for politicians to get around to helping our farmers. I’m running to fight for immediate, practical solutions that put Wisconsin’s agricultural community first.
